You may be wondering, "Is Croyde Beach dog friendly?" Dogs are allowed, but there are seasonal restrictions between October and Easter. Many of our dog friendly cottages in Croyde provide handy features such as dog bowls and utility areas that make rinsing off sandy paws quick and easy after a fun day at the beach.

Taking Your Dog on the North Devon Coastal Path
The South West Coast Path is an incredible place to explore with your dog. With breathtaking scenery around every corner, it's easy to see why so many visitors choose to bring their pets on holiday. Dogs are permitted along the entire route, and as long as they are cared for responsibly-kept under control, and prevented from disturbing livestock, wildlife, or other walkers-your four-legged companion will be warmly welcomed throughout North Devon.
Safety & Well-Being
North Devon offers countless exciting sights and scents for dogs, but it's important to stay mindful of their safety. Each year, unfortunate accidents occur when dogs stray too close to cliff edges. Please keep your pet close, ideally on a lead, and fully under control at all times.
Just like their owners, dogs will get thirsty on long walks. While some sections of the coast path have natural water sources, other areas can be dry for miles. It's always best to carry water and a bowl-especially if we're lucky enough to enjoy a warm, sunny spell.
When walking in unfamiliar places, there is a chance a dog may wander off. Make sure your dog wears a collar with an ID tag displaying your contact details and holiday address. Microchipping is also strongly recommended.
Being a Responsible Pet Owner on Holiday
A well-behaved dog is a joy to bring along, but there are a few things to remain mindful of:
Dog fouling: Please clean up after your pet to
keep the area pleasant for everyone.
Livestock & wildlife: Encounters with
livestock are common in North Devon. Keep dogs on a lead and under
control-chasing animals can cause serious harm.
Over-enthusiastic greetings: Friendly dogs are
wonderful, but not everyone appreciates muddy paws, and children
may be nervous around larger breeds. Practise calm greetings where
possible.

North Devon is full of exceptional dog walking routes-whether you prefer sandy beaches, coastal paths, or countryside adventures, you'll be spoilt for choice. Here are just a few local favourites:
Tarka Trail - One of the longest continuous
traffic-free walking and cycling routes in the country, stretching
over 30 miles of beautiful countryside between Braunton and
Meeth.
Baggy Point - Stunning coastal scenery and
dramatic sea views. Top tip: keep dogs on the lead.
Saunton Beach - A sweeping 3.5-mile stretch of
golden sand backed by impressive dunes-perfect for long family
walks.
Putsborough Beach & Woolacombe - A scenic
beach that runs all the way to Woolacombe; note that one small
section near the beach shop has dog restrictions.
Croyde Beach - Dogs are welcome from October to
April, allowing them to explore the beach and dunes in the quieter
months.
Crow Point - A beautiful curved spit of sand at
the edge of Braunton Burrows with breathtaking estuary views.
